About Black Film Tracks

Black Film Tracks is a historical book and film documentary produced by A Frame of Mind Publishing. This is a 480 page, full color, inter-active, true to record album cover size, pictorial informative book on all Black movie film soundtrack's record album cover art, that were ever released on vinyl from the 50's to present.

It also includes the great championed accomplishments of African-Americans and prominent individuals who have worked on films, original film music scores, rare Civil Rights speeches and Comedy recordings on vinyl records and rare film movie posters.

Narration of this historical documentary is by Emmy Award winner, Keith David.

We are also producing some of these rare recordings on limited edition vinyl records, CDs and DVDs. We are continuing the legacy to produce other album cover art books and films on: Latin, Sci-Fi Horror and Rock & Roll.

Our Goal

Our goal is to educate, publish and produce for the retail, scholastic markets, a multiple series of books from Rock & Roll, R & B, Latin, vol. 1-2., Sci-Fi Horror, vol. 1-2. and Comedy. We will raise revenue for the production of limited edition, self-published, hard and soft covered books for worldwide distribution through retail stores, scholastic, Amazon and Facebook E-commerce markets, Direct TV Response outlets and all other multimedia mega memorabilia markets.

Founder

Kevin H. Donan, owner of “As The Record Turns” and A Frame of Mind Publishing Inc. in Hollywood, CA has over the decades collected tens of thousands of albums. He has traveled the world with his wife, Monet, discovering and returning, these rare and out of print American-pressed vinyl albums back to the U.S. In keeping with this passion, Kevin currently owns one of the largest vinyl record collections of rare out-of-print, mint condition, Black film, stage and theatrical musical soundtracks and Civil Rights recordings on recorded on vinyl records in existence. This book is a natural off-shoot of Kevin’s passion to produce and release this 480 plus page book entitled “Black Film Tracks” and the other books that will follow.
Throughout the years, for the City of Los Angeles, Kevin received special commentary awards from Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley and the Federal Government's Department of Commerce for his writing, directing and camera work on various documentary film projects. As a music consultant, he has received credits as a consultant on many platinum and Grammy award winning albums, hundreds of movies, dozens of television/cable network shows and hundreds of CD and Vinyl re-issues. Kevin has received many letters of acknowledgement and gratitude from entertainment companies and luminaries such as Dick Clark, Quincy Jones, Michael Jackson, James Brown, Quentin Tarantino and Dr. Dre to name a few for his exemplary services.
